A few months ago, Democrats had drawn one of the most severe gerrymanders in the country in Maryland, which would have secured at least seven seats, and gave them a chance at sweeping all eight. However, the State Courts struck that map down, and the new map that replaced it is much more competitive. That’s bad news for Democrat David Trone, the wealthy Congressman and successful businessman who now faces the first competitive general election of his career. Trone will be defending the 6th Congressional district in Western Marylandagainst former State Delegate Neil Parrott in a rematch of the 2020 election.
