2022 House Election - North Carolina
RacetotheWH Forecast & Interactives
Politicos will have their eyes trained on the Tar Heel state in 2022, as it holds not just a competitive Senate race, but several high-profile and highly competitive House races. One of the marquee races is for the North Carolina 1st, on the state’s Northeastern Coast. Republicans worry they could underperform in an otherwise highly competitive race thanks to the Republican nominee Sandy Smith, who has continued to brag about her attendance at the January 6th rally that turned violent. She’s running in an open seat against Democratic State Senator Don Davis. Another top race is in Central North Carolina in the 13th district, between Democratic State Senator Wiley Nickle and Bo Hines, who at 26 would be one of the youngest Members of Congress. Finally, State Senator Jeff Jackson (D) made a run for Senator earlier this year, but he made an early exit, opting instead to run for Congress a few months later in the 14th district. He’s the early favorite against fellow veteran Pat Harrigan (R).
RacetotheWH launched in the 2020 election cycle, and our forecast was one of the nation's most accurate. It called over 93% of races right, and outperformed almost all its top competitors at predicting the final margin in close Senate races. We’re projecting the result for all 34 Senate Races up in 2022.
