Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal is up for re-election in 2022. Unlike several key swing states, Republicans successfully recruited a top-tier candidate to run for the Senate in Republican Minority Leader Themis Klarides. Unfortunately for Klarides, the deck is still stacked against her, as Connecticut is a state that leans 15% towards Democrats. Blumenthal successfully won his last election by 28.6%. New England has a penitent for bipartisanship, and occasionally votes for Republicans in surprising places, so Klarides will hope she can make a strong enough case to Democratic-leaning voters to cross the aisle and cast a vote for her 2022.
