Colorado has broken with other states that embraced gerrymandering in 2022, and instead pass one of the fairest maps in the nation. As a direct result, Colorado has a competitive set of congressional races this cycle. The most competitive on paper is the brand new Colorado 8th district in Northern Central Colorado, featuring a race between Yadira Caraveo (D) and State Senator Barbra Krikmeyer (R). Second, the parties will battle it out in the 7th district, which has been left open by retiring Congressman Ed Perlmutter (D). Finally, Laura Boebart is running in the Colorado 3rd. While she has gotten national attention for past extreme comments, she’s in a district that leans about 16% towards Republicans, so her race is unlikely to be competitive in anything but a blue wave election.
