In 2020, Race to the WH was one of the nation’s most accurate at predicting the Presidential and Senate elections. Now, we’re breaking down the NYC Mayor’s Election in our newest interactive feature.
Our coverage includes:
1. Polling Averages - A candidates support in the races, based off a weighed average of the polls that gives more weight to high quality, recent polls with large sample sizes.
2. Power Rankings - Every candidate gets a power score, based on indicators that show both current polling and their potential to gain new supporters
3. Fundraising - Candidates outsider the top tier will often struggle to get their message out, but their chances of breaking in are significantly higher if they have the resources to pay for significant levels of advertising.
4. Google Trends - We track how much candidates are getting searched online by New Yorkers. In primaries, google searches are sometimes the first indication that a candidate is gaining new attention, long before the polls have a chance to register their new found support.
