Oregon only leans about 11% towards Democrats, meaning that if Republicans dominate in 2022, they could have a shot in the Beaver State. However, they’ll probably be better off focusing on the competitive Oregon Governor’s race than the Senate for one reason, and that reason is Ron Wyden. Wyden is well-liked in the state of Oregon, and won his last election by an eye-popping 23.2%. Moreover, Republicans decided to once again nominate Jo Rae Perkins, who also lost by 20% in 2020, and has made QAnon conspiracies her bread and butter. That’s an approach to politics that will likely make it far harder to win the swing voters that every Republican needs in a blue state.
