Today, Democrats control all five congressional districts in Connecticut. Republicans are targetting two seats in the Nutmeg state. The first is the CT-5th in North Western Connecticut, where incumbent Congresswoman Jahana Hayes is running for re-election. Hayes became a rising star in the Democratic party in 2018. Two years after winning the National Teacher of the Year award, she made history as the first Black Female Representative in Connecticut history. Now, in 2022, she faces a tough challenge from George Logan, a former State Senator that plays in a Jimi Hendrix tribute band. If he wins, Logan could become the third black Republican in Congress. Second, Republicans are targeting Joe Courtney in the CT 2nd in Eastern CT, but that’s going to be a more challenging seat to flip as he won by 20% just two years ago.
